Bill Brown was a professional American football player who played as a running back for the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on June 28, 1938, in Evanston, Illinois, and passed away on November 4, 2018, in Woodbury, Minnesota. Brown played college football at the University of Illinois and was drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 1961 NFL Draft. He was a four-time Pro Bowler, played in 166 games, and rushed for 5,757 yards and 52 touchdowns during his 14-year career. Brown was inducted into the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor in 2004 and was also named to the team's 40th and 50th anniversary teams.
